Pediatric Dental Emergencies to Know About
When your child faces any type of emergency, seeing your child in pain can scare any parent. Here are a few common pediatric dental emergencies you should know about, and how to handle them. That way, you do not panic and you are able to get your child the help they need.

Knocked Out Teeth

There are times when children fall down, and they may lose their teeth during one of those falls. If it is a baby tooth, there may not be much that can be done other than bringing your child comfort. However, for an adult tooth, we can probably put it back into place. Bring us the tooth in a glass of milk, and let us take a look. We will see what can be done when we examine your child's mouth.

Bitten Tongue

When they fall, sometimes they also bite their tongues or cheeks. This is something we can help with, too. If the bite is bad enough to need stitches, we can put them in and remove them if necessary once their mouth has healed.

Chipped or Cracked Teeth

Another common pediatric dental emergency is a chipped or cracked tooth. What you want to do is relax, get the piece of the tooth if you can, and call us. The calmer you stay, the calmer they will stay. Let us look at the tooth so we can decide if the tooth needs treatment, or if it will be alright the way it is.

Do not panic if something happens to one of your child's teeth. Call us and let us help both you and them feel better.

Teething Toys Your Baby Can Safely Enjoy
If you have a baby that is teething, then you know that they will try and put everything in their mouth, whether it is safe or not. Having the right toys around can give them an array of options, that you know before they grab it, are safe for them to chew on. Make sure to have a few options on hand. This can include things like washcloths, burp rags, and stuffed animals that are soft and about the size of your baby's head. Just make sure there are no small pieces that could come off in your child's mouth, and make sure they are clean. The texture can give them relief from teething and make the process easier for them.

Eating Greens Helps Keep Your Teeth Clean
Do you go out of your way to make sure you eat lots of greens? You should because they can benefit your entire body, including your mouth. Green vegetables give you a lot of vitamins and nutrients that are difficult to come by naturally in other foods. Plus, they scrub your teeth cleaner as you chew them up. They are no substitute for proper oral hygiene, but they do help keep your teeth clean on a basic level. Plus, you also get extra hydration when you eat them. There you have it, three great reasons to eat an extra serving of greens today!
