Benefits Your Child Gets from Multiple Toothpaste Flavors
Kids are fickle, and every parent knows this. That makes getting them into good oral hygiene habits a challenge at times. If your kids are picky, then you may want to think of ways of changing things up for them. The more interesting and fun you can keep even the most mundane of activities, the more likely your child is to stay actively interested in it. The same goes for brushing their teeth!

Different Toothpaste Flavors Can Help Keep Kids Interested in Brushing
Likely the biggest benefit your child will get if you regularly change up toothpaste flavors is the fact that they will stay interested in brushing their teeth. When one day the option is bubble gum, but the next day, they may have berry or cherry, it keeps them coming back to see what option they will have.

Another benefit of changing up toothpaste flavors for kids is that your child can find one line of flavors they like most. This can help them keep up with oral hygiene because they will know that what is there, is a flavor they will like. Once your child decides on his or her favorite, you can exclusively get that if you both think that is best. It can then even carry over to be their flavor of choice into adulthood.

Make brushing fun for your kids. They want to have fun with it, but they may need help. The more options you can give your child, the less boring the task of brushing will be. For more ideas on how to make brushing fun, give our office a call. We love making good oral health fun for kids!

A Pediatric Dentist is Better for Your Child Than a Family Dentist
When it comes to picking the right type of dentist for your child, you need to make sure that you go with the most experienced and educated dentist possible. Some people like taking their entire family to the same dentist, but this is not always what is best for your child. It may be convenient, but it may not provide the best dental care possible.

Pediatric dentists take extra courses and have extra training when it comes to caring for a child’s mouth. There is more to a child’s mouth than simply being smaller than an adult’s mouth. It is still developing, and needs special care. That is what a pediatric dentist can provide that a family dentist typically cannot. For more information, call us. We will help show you the benefits both you and your child would get when they come in to see us.

How to Protect Oral Tissues When a Tooth Gets Chipped
Having a chipped tooth can be both painful and painless at the same time. Most small chips in your teeth are not painful at all. You may not even notice them at first. However, that chip wearing back and forth against your oral tissues can really cause a sore spot.

If you have a chipped tooth, come in and see us or your primary care dentist. One of the best options for helping protect your mouth is to have us dull the edges or fill the chip with dental bonding. Until you can get into our office, use a small bit of dental wax on the area. This can cover the jagged edge and protect your mouth until you can come in for treatment.

Our treatment philosophy centers around each child's individual needs and concerns to create a gentle and caring approach that works for that child. We firmly believe that a positive, enjoyable dental experience will help children build confidence and knowledge that will create a lifetime of great dental health.
