Postpartum Dental Appointments Are Very Important
After having a baby, your body has a lot of recovering to do. It went through a lot during those nine months, and now it is going to take a bit of time for your body to adjust to post-pregnancy life. The same goes with your mouth as pregnancy can leave you more susceptible to gum disease and the shifting of teeth. You do not need to come in right after delivering your child, but within the first couple of months after delivery, we recommend that you come in and get a checkup with us.

What Are We Looking for at Your Postpartum Appointment?

During your postpartum visit to our office, we are going to do a thorough cleaning and examination first. We want to make sure that the health of your mouth is as pristine as possible. We also want to make sure that your gums are no longer swollen or inflamed. This is very common due to the hormones of pregnancy. Then we are also going to make sure that your teeth are in their proper positions. Teeth that shift around is something many pregnant women face. This typically resolves itself shortly after delivery, but not always. That is why we want to take a look. In case it has not resolved itself, we want to take corrective steps now before it becomes a long-term issue.

Make sure you come in and see us after your child is born. It is a very important appointment to make, and we hope you make it between one and two months after delivery. For more information, call our office today, and we can even set up your appointment at the same time!

The Effects of Not Flossing Enough Grow Over Time
It is one thing to forget to floss now and again. However, studies have shown that nearly a third of adults forgets to floss altogether. This is a problem as it can affect the health of your mouth in a very profound way. The longer you go without flossing properly, the more plaque builds up between your teeth. This can lead to cavities, gum disease, and if left alone long enough, even tooth loss. Call us today to let us take a good look between your teeth. If there are any problems, we can treat them now before they become even larger problems.

'Tis (Nearly) the Season
Offices and professional services across the country shower clients with boxes of sugary delights around the holidays. If your company makes annual gifts to clients, consider setting a new model for healthy holidays gifts by choosing to send a beautiful and healthy fruit basket instead.

The very offices you want to honor may be relieved and grateful to receive something fresh, healthy and different. And you'll help them avoid the extra pounds and cavities, too!
