Special Olympics Oregon provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children, youth, and adults living with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes, and the community.

Special Olympics Oregon serves more than 12,000 participants with intellectual disabilities each year, serving the largest disability population in the state. Every day, every month, and every year, their programs and services provide constituents with immense opportunities in life, yet nearly 100,000 individuals could still benefit from participating in Special Olympics Oregon programs. Is Your Website Mobile Friendly?
These days more and more people are using their smart phones to access the internet. By many estimates, over 60% of all online searches are generated by mobile devices. There is an unquestionable need for websites to include mobile-friendly tags for their users and potential clientele. On April 21, 2015, dubbed, "mobilegeddon", Google changed its algorithm in order to evaluate mobile-friendly websites and rank those at the top of their search engine results. What this means for businesses, is that your website will gain the highest recognition from searches if it is coded to include a mobile-friendly option.

Mobile-friendly formatting allows someone to instantly arrive at a re-designed website with all the same information yet condensed into a more readable and easier to access format for the smart phone. The difference will include things like; selection buttons spaced farther apart, font and pictures in a pixel appropriate size for the mobile device, and instead of swiping page by page information may simply scroll vertically along as it is read because the width of the information will better fit the device.

This is quickly becoming standard for all smart phone users and the majority of conventional websites in order to better serve and attract customers toward site traffic and business transactions. With the majority of the population trending toward smart phone internet usage, businesses need to seize the opportunity; "with more than three billion mobile phones being used worldwide, we are soon approaching a time when many people's first internet experience will be through a mobile device . . . With mobile devices taking over the place of the PC, not having a mobile friendly website is like committing business suicide." - iMarketing Factory

There are a couple of things you can do to determine if your website is mobile friendly. The easiest is to simply look up your website on your own smart phone. Another method is to use Google's mobile-friendly test on your website. If your website has issues contact us and we can assist you in making sure that your website is mobile friendly. Just as with any area of website development we are ready and have the tools to meet you needs, and are always happy to serve as a resource for any question you may have about mobile design, mobile friendliness, or any of the other aspects in creating and maintaining a top of the line, top ranking website. Did You Know?

Facebook and Twitter and LinkedIn, Oh My!

Did you know that your presence in social media outlets can play a significant role in how well your website ranks on search engine results pages? The social media buzz is everywhere and whether or not you yourself run a virtual farm on facebook with a grade school friend, it is an important trend for your business.

People no longer call their friends to find a local contractor, doctor, dentist or lawyer - they see who they know that has "liked" the provider instead. And nowadays when people "let their fingers do the walking" it is not in the yellow pages but across a search page. But even the major search engines take your social media presence as a sign of your website's importance.

There are many social media website and blogging systems available and we are happy to help you integrate those systems with your website. If you need help with the setup or strategy around social media, we can help there too. Just give us a ring or drop us an email.
